About Industrial Fishing Co Of Iran (IFCO)
The IFCO (Ex. Deputy
of fishing operation department of Iran Fisheries Company belonged to
government) was established on 6th July 1983 with 100% ownership of Iran
Fisheries Company. The head office of IFCO located in Tehran and 3
branches were located in B. Anzali (In North) and B. Abbas & B. Boshehr
(In South part of Iran).
In this way, the first leading Industrial fishing company in middle east
and Iran was started his activities with following fishing fleet

* Those vessels were
operating in CAPSPIAN SEA for “KILKA” Fishing.
The operation areas of IFCO fleet were EEZ of Caspian Sea in North and
Persian Gulf & Oman Sea in South part of Iran.On 1986, IFCO decided to renew his fleet by replacement of his owned old
vessels with new ones.
Hence, in first step, IFCO made the contract for purchasing of 3 Numbers
of modern fishing Trawlers (45m. Length/673GRT) from W. Germany and
started to sold out his old vessels to private sections.
The first 3 numbers of modern Trawlers (Named “ FERDOWS” 1~3) joined to
IFCO fleet on 1988.
These vessels built in W. Germany and equipped with modern machineries
and equipped for best performance of fishing & processing of catch
onboard.
They also able to use Bottom trawl, Mid-Water Trawl and equipped with
rigged for shrimp Trawling.
On 1990, IFCO purchased the mother factory Trawler (68m) named “SIRAF”
(Ex. COSTA DE
NORMANDIA) from Spain. The main mission of this vessel was
collecting &
processing and packing the shrimp at sea. At same year (1990),
IFCO decided to purchase two Tuna Purse Seiners from Mexico in order
to promote the
fishing methods of Tuna for the first time in fishing history of Iran
and
area (middle East). Following start the Tuna fishing by Purse Seiners,
IFCO had been delivered
the Tuna long Liner
(Named “ JAHAD POZM) from Taiwan on 1991.
In this way, IFCO became the first pioneer of fishing company in area
for developing of Tuna fishing by Purse Seining and long Line systems.
On 1993, by purchasing ten Numbers of 24m length shrimp Trawlers (Named
“ TABAS”) from Poland, IFCO started to use them in his fleet gradually.
According to new policy of Iran Fisheries Company (the main shareholders
of IFCO) for privatization at 1994, IFCO sold out his fleet in North and
also shrimp Trawlers (TABAS) to private sections.
But instead of them, IFCO purchased the new building 75m Length Tuna
Purse Seiner from Malaysia.
Following the new released policy by government on 2000, the Iran
Fisheries Company transferred his 100% shares to three fund sections;
State retirement fund, Social Security fund organization and retirement
fund organization of Ministry of “ JIHAD”.
The state retirement fund and social security fund sold out their shares
to individual persons on 2003.
At the present, the IFCO fleet is including three No of Purse Seiners &
Three No of Trawlers.
